蚝式防水系统最初由劳力士创始人汉斯·威尔斯多夫于1926年发明，并在1927年获得专利。这项创新技术的名字"Oyster"（蚝）灵感来自于蚝壳，象征着防水性能和密封性的卓越。

蚝式防水系统的核心是由螺旋式表冠、表壳和表背组成的三重密封结构。螺旋式表冠可以完全拧紧，确保表壳的密封性。表壳采用特殊的设计和材质，具有优异的防水性能。表背则采用特殊工艺密封，使腕表的内部部件免受水分和灰尘的侵入。
